Today is Friday, August 1, 2014. I have not seen nor talked to Mirtha Quintana-Toomey for more than ten (10) years, after she married Christopher Toomey. Then, she adopted two (2) children, Christina and Christopher, whose Godmother is Maria Vargas, who worked for St. Augustine College in Uptown Chicago. I have never met Mirtha Quintana-Toomey’s children who are already grown up and starting college in the year 2014. Mirtha Quintana-Toomey used to live on North Richmond Street near Grace Avenue and Sacramento, but she must have moved away from the Northwest side of Chicago, where she lived with her Mother Josefa in their home together until her Mother died and her Aunt died also. Several years have passed and I have not been contacted by Mirtha Quintana-Toomey nor met her in person in spite of the years we met at Northeastern Illinois University. Her birthday anniversary is on August 26, 2014. I do not recall ever been invited to Mirtha Quintana-Toomey’s Birthday Anniversary celebration nor have I attended any birthday party for any of her family members.

The eighth month of the year 2014 is August for the summer’s hot humid weather, and sudden thunderstorms and rain showers. Surprisingly, there was a freezing hailstorm today in some areas of the Midwest. A sudden rainstorm rumbled with thunder on Friday afternoon. The Lollapalooza crowd certainly got rained on during the first day at Grant Park along Columbus Drive and Jackson Boulevard.

By August, there are still four (4) more months before year’s end in winter. By the time August arrives, the summer is almost at its end… However, summertime is not yet over until the last day of August at the end of this month.

National Lighthouse Day is to be celebrated on Thursday, August 7, 2014. Over the years, I have visited lighthouses and walked up and down, winding spiral staircases in narrow, tight spaces.

On the same day, the Village of Lombard has already cancelled the Village Board of Trustees Meeting at 7:30 PM once again this summer.

The Lombard Metra Station construction, improvements, and the new Lombard Metra Pedestrian Tunnel Underground with related street closures begin on Monday, August 4, 2014. On August 5, John Burns Construction will be closing a portion of the Michael McGuire Drive and a portion of the north side of the Lombard Metra platform.
