June 18th is Timeless in the 21st Century

In the year 2014, June 18th continues to be an auspicious and memorable day to remember for everyone. A lot of events take place on that same date throughout the years, for the last twenty-six years.

This year on June 18th, the King of Spain Juan Carlos de Borbón y Borbón will abdicate the Spanish throne in favor of his son Felipe VI who will become the new King of Spain for the 21st century on the same day.

Twenty-six (26) years ago, on June 18th, I was married twenty-six to a former U.S. Navy Postal Clerk Nathan Scott Wittler Patriquin who had been recruited for naval military service at the Great Lakes Naval Base in Illinois, and later served aboard the USS Platte in Norfolk, Virginia and was discharged in New York during the U.S. Bicentennial in 1996.

“Who did not attend Nathan S. Wittler and Gardenia C. Hung’s Wedding Ceremony and Reception?”

My Wedding Reception aboard the Star of Chicago was attended by many family relatives, colleagues, friends, and also volleyball players like Donna Sagami and her boyfriend Steve, Bob Roessler and his girlfriend Joan, my brother’s friends. UIC professor Anthony Graham-White was glad to go on the Star of Chicago yacht for the 3-hour Lake Michigan cruise, even though Carla, his wife nor his son Sean attended. My former high school French teacher Mrs. Francis Salvato and her husband Frank Salvato were happy to be at my wedding reception. NEIU colleagues and co-workers like Marie Lizewski and Mirtha Quintana and her mother Josefa also attended my wedding party.

Among the groom’s guests were Nathan S. Wittler’s family members Reverend Melvin A. Wittler and Mrs. Nancy Wittler Patriquin, his brothers Bryan and Kent Wittler, and his sister Heather and her boyfriend Jon Eruren, as well as friends like Reverend Schoup and Mrs. Schoup from Evergreen Park who were invited. Nathan S. Wittler was glad to see his Grandmother Wittler and Uncle Duane Wittler, his Aunt Virginia and Uncle George Fox from Hartington and Lincoln, Nebraska, in addition to his Uncle David Patriquin and his wife Cynthia from Athens, Ohio. Mel Wittler’s colleague and friend Mary Jane attended the Wedding Luncheon at Hennessy’s, a Hungarian restaurant near The Belmont Hotel on Sheridan Road by the Belmont Harbor in Chicago.

My Father, Mr. Roberto Hung invited my Uncle Filiberto Hung and his wife Mireya who brought my Cousin Ana Mireya Hung Lee to attend our wedding from Flushing, New York. My youngest brother also attended the Wedding Ceremony and Reception and invited some of his friends and associates. My Mother refused to attend my Wedding Ceremony and Reception on June 18, 1988 aboard the Star of Chicago at Navy Pier by Lake Michigan, Illinois USA.

Ten (10) years after my wedding day, on June 18th, my Father, Mr. Roberto Hung who was hospitalized at Vencor Northlake Hospital, was throttled by the Respiratory Therapist Ben Aguilar, after Dr. Paul Grodzin, Dr. Frank, Dr. Oliveras, and Dr. Raied Abdullah made their early morning walking rounds before 7:00 AM. When I arrived early morning to see my Father, I found him slumped over, bleeding from his tracheostomy and his nose, already dead, murdered violently by the Respiratory Therapist Ben Aguilar at Vencor Northlake Hospital in Cook County, Illinois USA.

June 18th is still a memorable and eventful day for me to remember. Nine (9) years ago, on June 18, 2005, I attended the 80th Birthday Anniversary of Kathleen Day in Madison, Wisconsin who was celebrating her octogenarian anniversary among family and friends at home and also at the Best Western downtown in Madison—nine (9) years ago. Now, in the year 2014, Kathleen Day ought to be 89 years older among her children, grand-children, family relatives and friends. Her sister Florence served in the U.S. Navy. Her son Sam Day invited me to meet his Mother Kathleen nine (9) years ago, and after the octogenarian birthday celebration and his move to Madison, Wisconsin, I have not seen any of the Day Family members ever again since 2005.

On that same day, June 18, 2005, my Lombard Brick Bungalow home was vandalized by criminal trespassers, intruders, and home invaders who jumped over the fencing around my Lombard yard and caused Lombard Disaster Roofing Water Damages and Losses at 502 South Westmore Avenue and Washington Boulevard, when they accessed the Lombard driveway owned by John and Eva Carpenter before Chris and Sara Gulotta moved in with their daughters at 504 South Westmore Avenue in District 5, York Township, Du Page County, Illinois 60148-3028 USA.
