The first day of March 2014 brings a lot of events to remember for the year. Next Tuesday, March 4th, marks the 177th Anniversary for the City of Chicago and the celebration of Mardi Gras which translates from French into English as “Fat Tuesday” before Ash Wednesday and the Lenten season for Holy Week.

My Grandmother Gertrudis Salustiana is also remembered on March 11th during a memorial service observed by all family members for the last 113 years.

In addition, the Feast of Saint Patrick is celebrated on March 17th when everyone becomes Celtic Irish on St. Patrick’s Day.
