The Union Pacific Railroad is an important link to the transportation network connected to buses, airports, and water taxis along the Chicago River in Illinois.
In the Western Suburbs, the METRA West Line runs 24/7 through the towns of Elburn, La Fox, Geneva, West Chicago, Winfield, Wheaton, College Avenue, Glen Ellyn, Lombard, Villa Park, Elmhurst, Berkeley, Bellwood, Melrose Park, Maywood, River Forest, Oak Park, Kedzie, all the way eastbound to Chicago at the Richard B. Ogilvie Transportation Center connecting villages, towns, and cities from East to West. The METRA Station Downtown was named in honor of the former Illinois governor.
Over the years, improvements have been made to the METRA Boarding Platforms, even though lighting remains dimmed and hazy at all times. General delays for METRA can take place daily from 10 to 30 minutes or more. If the METRA Train does not show up and the Lombard Station is closed as usual, make sure to ask the reasons why? For general information call METRA at 312-322-6900.
There are connecting CTA buses and trains available to support the Union Pacific METRA transportation network. Over the New Year’s Eve Holiday, CTA is offering one penny rides after 8:00 PM.
When travelling East to West on the Union Pacific METRA Railroad, always remember to fly…and call whenever there is a question about Passenger Services.
